This fascinating new tour looks at the life of one of the most enduring characters in English history- Robin Hood, subject of countless films and TV series, and a byword for righteous rebellion. Separate the truth from fiction with medieval historian, Mike Ingram and visit key sites in Robin’s life and times.

Day 2: St Peter’s Headon, Clipstone Palace, Sherwood Forest, St Mary’s Edwinstowe and Laxton.
A fascinating day in store as we visit St Peter’s at Headon to see the tomb of Simone de Headon, the infamous Sheriff of Nottingham. Then to the ruins of King John’s palace at Clipstone and the famous “Major Oak” in Sherwood Forest, under which Robin sheltered. A pub lunch is included before visiting St Mary’s where Robin is reputed to have married Maid Marian and, finally, to Laxton to see a strip farm, the only one surviving, that remains as it would have been in Robin’s day. This evening enjoy a second talk from Mike Ingram.

Day 3: Nottingham and Southwell Minster.
This morning we will enjoy a guided walking tour of the city visiting places associated with Robin Hood and the key city sights as well as time for lunch (not included). Then it’s back to Southwell to see the lovey Minster for a guided tour. The Minster’s library houses an ancient horn drinking vessel which purports to have belonged to Robin Hood.
