All tours on this holiday have now departed. Future departure dates will be confirmed in due course.
Enjoy two very different bases for our tour; the village of Loutra Ypatis, an off-the-beaten-track peaceful, natural haven; and Arachova, a winter resort that is considered the ‘balcony of Parnassus’
Appreciate the immense untamed beauty of the region: mountains, hills, plateaus and seascapes
Walk amongst the wonderful colours of spring
An opportunity to visit the spectacular site of Delphi
This two-centre tour explores the stunning region of Mount Parnassus, well-known for the infamous site of Delphi and a magnificent landscape; and the lesser known but equally beautiful Mount Oeti, a designated national park. Mount Parnassus at 2457m and Mount Oeti 2152m are spectacularly snow covered throughout the winter but, as the snow melts and spring comes to the mountains, it equally welcomes a wonderful spring flora.
Our days will be spent in the great outdoors exploring the wonderful nature of the area on foot. There will be some short walks during our botanising, which will generally be no more than around 3kms on any day, sometimes less. Only on one day (Day 6) there is a longer walk of 5kms, which follows a track downhill all the way.
Day 1: Fly from London Heathrow to Athens.
Transfer to the Alexakis Hotel, Loutra Ypatis and check-in for a three-night stay. Welcome dinner at a local taverna.
Day 2: Mount Oeti.
Established as a National Park in 1966, Mount Oeti is a beautiful verdant mountain that is reputed to hold an invaluable wealth of flora. We will spend this first day exploring the area close at hand and botanising on the lower reaches of Mount Oeti.
Day 3: Karpenisi – the ‘Switzerland of Greece’!
We journey to the region of Eyritania, a wonderfully alpine location that is reminiscent of Switzerland with its clean air, high mountains, forested slopes, flowing rivers and chalet style hotels. We will botanise in the green landscapes around Karpenisi enjoying the splendid scenery and will, of course, find a lovely taverna for lunch where you can try some of the regions local specialities.
Day 4: Ypati to Arachova.
We will enjoy a scenic journey to Arachova, with a botanical walk along the way and a break for lunch in the lovely village of Eptafolos, one of the most attractive of the Parnassus villages, crowned by fir trees and decorated with huge plane trees that shade its wonderful village square. Check-in to the Likoria Hotel for a four-night stay.
Day 5: Free day.
Today is at leisure with the opportunity to explore Arachova and perhaps also visit the site of Delphi. Considered ‘the navel of the world’ Delphi is famous as the sanctuary of Apollo and the Oracle of Delphi.
Day 6: The Pilgrims Way.
Today we will walk part of the ancient pilgrims trail, a path that was followed by pilgrims journeying to Delphi to seek advice from the oracle. Our walk starts in Delphi dropping downhill to the village of Chrisso, we will botanise and enjoy splendid views as we go. Our bus will collect us at the end of the walk and take us to the lovely seaside village of Galaxidi where there will be time for a leisurely lunch.
Day 7: Mount Parnassus.
We enjoy a lovely drive via the villages of Distomo and Kyriaki towards our lunch time taverna, situated in a natural area, botanising as we go. On the way we will have the opportunity for a brief visit to the beautiful Byzantine monastery of Hosios Loukas, a UNESCO site, that dates to the 11th century.
Day 8: Transfer to Athens Airport for the return flight to London Heathrow.
NB: Exact order of excursions may vary according to local conditions and tour manager's discretion
Please note the maximum group size on this tour is 18 passengers.

Having studied at the Savill Gardens, Windsor and the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Graham Kendall went on to be Head Gardener at three National Trust Properties before starting his own consultancy. A year studying in Greece, at what is now the 'Greek home' to the Mediterranean Garden Society, kindled Graham's love for its native flora. Numerous subsequent visits to many different areas of Greece have widened his fascination and knowledge.
Nikos Kuriakakis excellent as usual.

Special thanks to Graham for his 'botanist' skills and kind manner. Thanks also to Bianca who was on her first visit to this region as our enthusiastic tour manager. Whilst both hotels were good the second was not as high standard as the first despite having an additional 'star'. The coach and driver, Nico, were both comfortable and friendly respectively! Blessed by good weather the days out were most enjoyable but more thought over the timing of lunch and comfort stops during the day would have given more balance overall. Nevertheless, in excellent company, we enjoyed our second flower-tour and may well go again in the next couple of years.

Our third flower tour with Travel Editions. This year to Mount Parnassus with Graham Kendall, Bianca & driver Nikos who ensured that all went smoothly for another enjoyable trip with a group of fellow enthusiasts.

Our fifth Greek flower tour with Jane, Graham and Nikos and this lived up to our high expectations. Everything worked very smoothly - but new travellers need to remember that it can be cold at this time of the year -even though it was 29 in London!

This was our 6th flower trip with Graham Kendall. He is fantastic and so is Jane as tour manager and Nikos is an excellent driver and goes the extra mile to be helpful.

Another excellent tour with Jane, Graham and not forgetting Nickos our wonderful driver who never gave us a moments alarm. Another habitat every day with different flowers and scenery. Graham had done so much preparation to find interesting plants. Jane is such an excellent manager with a great sense of humour, whilst looking out all the time for anyone struggling with the terrain. Hotels were comfortable and the hot springs pool in Ypati a lovely surprise. remember to bring swimsuits next year! Everyone in the group had been with Travel Editions and Jane and Graham before, some up to 9 times. Need to book early next year!

This was my third botanical tour to Greece with Graham Kendall and Jane Freeman and once again, was outstanding! It was a pioneering trip which turned out to be excellent in every way. It will surely run again! I enjoyed being able to participate fully and help lead as needed especially on a day when Graham was sick. I will be travelling with you again to be sure.

Lovely part of Greece, flowers showing well. Very comfy beds & good view from hotel but no tea/coffee making in rooms as advertised on Likoria website. Jane, Graham & Nicos looked did a great job!

Tour manager exceptionally competent - sensitive to the frailty of one of us. A ggod mix of botanising, appreciating the landscape and ancient architecture
