Take a tour of Rovaniemi and unwind in a traditional firewood sauna before taking a dip in your own private arctic lake. Day 1: Travel to Rovaniemi
Fly from London Heathrow to Rovaniemi via Helsinki. Arrive at Rovaniemi Airport and enjoy a short transfer to the hotel, located in the heart of Lapland’s capital. In the evening, enjoy a three course welcome dinner at the Arctic Restaurant. Featuring local ingredients like reindeer, moose, salmon, and king crab, this meal offers a delicious introduction to northern flavours, accompanied by a glass of wine.
Day 2: City tour, and a chance to see the Northern Lights
Discover Rovaniemi’s rich culture and scenic beauty on a guided city tour including entrance to the Arktikum Museum and Science Centre to learn about the region's nature, culture and history. In the evening, venture beyond the city to an Aurora Camp, ideally located for Northern Lights viewing. Enjoy sausages grilled over an open fire and warm berry juice as you watch the skies. Cold-weather gear is available if needed.
Day 3: Sauna World, and a Lappish dinner
Experience Finnish wellness at Sauna World, featuring six saunas, an outdoor hot tub, and a traditional cold plunge pool. You’ll receive towels, robes, slippers, a non-alcoholic drink, and a tapas plate—just bring your swimsuit! In the evening, enjoy a traditional Lappish dinner in a Sami Kota, a wooden teepee where your meal is slow-cooked over an open fire. This rustic setting offers a truly authentic and flavourful dining experience.
Day 4: Panning for gold, and a reindeer farm
Try your hand at gold panning while learning about Lapland’s little-known Gold Rush history. Enjoy campfire coffee or tea and a pastry as you search for your own nugget. Later, visit a local reindeer farm to learn about the Sami people and their deep connection with these animals. Discover how reindeer remain central to the region’s culture and cuisine, and sample some of the farm’s produce.
Day 5: Departure
Transfer to the airport for return flight to London Heathrow via Helsinki.
