Day 1: Travel to Svolvær
Fly from London Heathrow to Svolvaer via Oslo, then transfer to the hotel. Evening welcome drink and enjoy dinner at a restaurant located on one of the oldest piers in the town.
Day 2: Svolvær, and a viking feast
Spend the morning at leisure exploring Svolvær’s charming harbour and art galleries. In the afternoon, travel to the Lofoten Viking Museum at Borg for a private guided tour, built on the site of the largest ever Viking building to be found in Norway. The museum will also be holding its annual festival, a vibrant celebration of Viking history and culture in the islands. Immerse yourself in Norse history and culture, with re-enactors from across Scandinavia gathering to recreate all aspects of Viking life showcasing crafts, skills and daily activities, including woodcarving, pottery and storytelling. To finish the day, you enjoy a traditional Vikingstyle feast inside a reconstructed Chieftain’s longhouse.
Day 3: Scenic Lofoten
Embark on a full day guided tour of Lofoten’s most picturesque locations. Experience the cultural richness of Kabelvåg, feel the untouched tranquillity of Gimsøya, marvel at the sandy beaches of Haukland and Unstad, and explore the charming fishing village of Henningsvær. Your guide, a professional photographer, will help you capture the region’s dramatic landscapes and hidden gems.
Day 4: Boat safari, and a museum
Set off on a boat safari to Trollfjorden, with stops to observe majestic sea eagles in their natural habitat. Return to Svolvær to visit the Lofoten World War Memorial Museum, offering a unique perspective on the region’s wartime history.
Day 5: Fly to Oslo
Take an early flight to Oslo and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the capital, featuring Akershus Fortress, a medieval masterpiece overlooking the Oslo Fjord, the National Theatre, and the Parliament buildings.
Day 6: Oslo then departure
Visit the renowned Viking Ship Museum in the morning. Enjoy some free time to explore Oslo at your own pace before transferring to the airport for your return flight to London Heathrow.
