2 nights starting from

  • Atmospheric Russell-Cotes Museum in Bournemouth

  • Classical recital at St Peter's Church, Bournemouth and visit

  • The glorious gardens at Compton Acres in Poole

Join Prof. Anne Anderson on this lovely tour that explores the history of the seaside in its heyday when fashionable and aristocratic families decamped to the seaside, built sumptuous villas and pleasure gardens, amassed art collections and took the air. Our delightful tour takes in some of the sights and activities that would have been popular a century or more ago, including the superb Russell-Cotes Museum overlooking the sea in the heart of Bournemouth, the spectacular series of gardens at Compton Acres, a classical music recital at St Peter's Church in Bournemouth (and time to visit the church which includes work by Burne-Jones) and a scenic boat cruise of Poole Harbour. Prof Anne Anderson will help to evoke the art, architecture and atmosphere of a bygone era.
