Mornings bring sea air and floral scents, afternoons unfold in villages and gardens, and as evening falls, music fills the air. Tenerife in winter is a place to slow down, explore, and savour the unexpected. Walk the gardens of Puerto de la Cruz, discover La Laguna and Santa Cruz, and journey to the volcanic heart of Mount Teide. With wine tastings, workshops and free time to enjoy the island, this is winter at its most rewarding.

ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Tenerife
Fly from London Gatwick to Tenerife, and transfer to our hotel. Evening welcome drink and dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Puerto de la Cruz
Start today with a guided tour of the Puerto de la Cruz Botanical Garden, home to native and tropical plant species, and a 200-year-old fig tree with sprawling roots and branches that create a natural canopy. Continue with a walking tour of the well-preserved historic centre, including the central square Plaza del Charco. Return to the hotel for an included lunch and time to relax. Afternoon at leisure before our first concert of the festival. This classical music festival has been held annually since 1985, and draws the best conductors, orchestras, and soloists from around the world. Concert to be announced once the programme has been confirmed by the festival organisers.

Day 3: Teide National Park
Begin the morning in El Portillo with a visit to the Teide National Park Visitor Centre, where exhibits bring the island’s volcanic landscapes and unique ecosystems to life. Enjoy lunch at a traditional Canarian restaurant, before continuing your discovery of the park’s dramatic lava fields and panoramic viewpoints. In the afternoon, we access the Teide Observatory for an insight into astronomical research above the clouds. The day concludes with a relaxed dinner back at our hotel.

Day 4: Whale Watching
In the late morning we set sail on a private catamaran cruise along Tenerife’s spectacular coastline for an unforgettable whale‑watching experience. Relax on deck as expert crew guide you to spot resident whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. A light lunch is included before spending the afternoon at leisure in Puerto de la Cruz.

Day 5: La Orotava and El Sauzal
Travel to the historic town of La Orotava for a guided walking tour through its elegant old quarter, renowned for beautifully preserved colonial architecture. Visit the 17th century manor house of Casa de los Balcones, famous for its carved wooden balconies, traditional patios, and local handicrafts. Continue on to El Sauzal, a picturesque village celebrated for its vineyards and sweeping coastal views. Visit a family‑run winery for a guided tour of the vineyards and cellars, followed by a wine tasting. Enjoy a gourmet lunch featuring seasonal, locally sourced products that highlight the flavours of the island. In the afternoon, take part in a hands‑on Mojo Picón culinary workshop, learning the secrets behind this classic Canarian sauce and experiencing island gastronomy first‑hand. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 6: San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Depart for San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 as a unique example of a non-fortified, colonial town. Visit the Iglesia de la Concepción tower for panoramic views. This historic church was originally built in the early 1500s, and is the site where the island’s first Christian mass was celebrated. The colonial Canarian bell tower was completed in 1786. Continue to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island’s capital, for  a guided tour of its historic centre. Explore the Museum of Nature and Archaeology, home to fascinating exhibits on the island’s natural history and the mysterious Guanche mummies, offering insight into Tenerife’s indigenous people. Dinner at the hotel.
