ITINERARY

Day 1: Fly to Spain
Fly from London Heathrow to Barcelona, then transfer to Figueres for check-in to hotel. Evening welcome drink and dinner.

Day 2: Morning walking tour of Figueres with afternoon free
Birthplace of Surrealist Salvador Dalí, Figueres is an attractive town with a wide, leafy boulevard lined with outdoor cafes as its main thoroughfare. The main attraction is Dalí’s homage to Surrealism, the Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dalí (entrance included) which is suitably bizarre! We will discover the museum and the attractive town on a morning walking tour. This afternoon is free to enjoy the town or simply relax at your leisure.

Day 3: Full day tour to Besalú and Banyoles
An important town in the early Middle Ages, Besalú is a gorgeous small town of stone houses and arcaded cobbled streets. Its most impressive feature is the 12th-century Romanesque bridge crossing the Fluvià river. Surrounded by green hills and on the shore of the lake, Banyoles is an attractive town with a lake, 14th century church, arcaded square and archaeological museum.

Day 4: Portlligat and Cadaqués
Visit the Salvador Dalí House Museum in Portlligat, then enjoy free time in the charming coastal town of Cadaqués. Later, explore Roses at your own pace.

Day 5: Peralada
Discover Peralada and tour the Castillo Peralada, followed by a wine tasting and lunch at the winery. Afternoon at leisure in Figueres.

Day 6: Pals and Palamós
Start the day by exploring medieval Pals before we transfer to Palamós in time for free time for lunch to try the famous gambas de Palamós. Afternoon we visit the Museu de la Pesca and a visit to the famous fish auction.

Day 7: Full day tour to Girona
The elegant city of Girona is a delight to explore. Highlights include a splendid walled medieval quarter - which sits on a hill overlooking the city, river banks lined with brightly painted houses, a wonderfully preserved medieval Jewish quarter and  its very own “Rambla” a la Barcelona. It has plenty of excellent museums too, including one devoted to cinema and a host of superb restaurants.

NB: Exact order of excursions may vary according to local conditions and tour manager’s discretion.
