ITINERARY

Day 1: Depart London
Begin your journey with an overnight flight from London to Chennai. Relax on board as you start your adventure to vibrant South India.

Day 2: Arrival in Chennai
Arrive in Chennai, the gateway to South India. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure to unwind after your flight. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers, setting the tone for the journey ahead.

Day 3: Exploring Chennai
This morning, discover the cultural highlights of Chennai on a guided tour. Visit the colourful Kapaleeshwarar Temple, an important centre of Dravidian architecture, and explore Fort St George, a landmark of colonial history. Continue to the fascinating Government Museum, home to an impressive collection of art and artefacts. Round off the tour with a scenic drive along Marina Beach, one of the longest urban beaches in the world.

Day 4: Mahabalipuram Excursion
Enjoy a full-day excursion to the UNESCO-listed coastal town of Mahabalipuram. En route, stop at Dakshina Chitra Museum, where you can experience South India’s living traditions and heritage. In Mahabalipuram, explore remarkable rock-cut monuments including the Shore Temple, the intricately carved Five Rathas, and the balancing natural wonder known as Krishna’s Butter Ball. After lunch, return to Chennai.

Day 5: Journey to Mysore
Transfer early to the station to board the sleek Vande Bharat Express to Mysore. Sit back and enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel. On arrival, enjoy some free time to relax or explore at your own pace before dinner.

Day 6: Discover Mysore
Spend a full day exploring the regal city of Mysore. Visit Chamundi Hill for panoramic views, followed by the magnificent Mysore Palace, one of India’s most opulent royal residences. Wander through the vibrant Devaraja Flower Market, filled with colourful blooms, spices, and local life.

Day 7: Journey to Ooty
Travel through scenic countryside and winding mountain roads to the hill station of Ooty, nestled in the Nilgiri Hills. On arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy dinner.

Day 8: Ooty Sightseeing
Explore Ooty on a morning tour, including the beautifully landscaped Botanical Gardens and the fragrant Rose Gardens. The afternoon is free for you to relax or explore this charming hill town at your own pace.

Day 9: Toy Train & Coimbatore
Experience a memorable ride on a historic heritage toy train to Coonoor, passing through tunnels, bridges, and lush tea plantations. Enjoy a packed lunch before continuing by road to Coimbatore for your overnight stay.

Day 10: Into the Hills of Munnar
Travel to Munnar, a serene hill station known for its rolling tea plantations. Stop for lunch en route and enjoy scenic views along the journey. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax amid the tranquil surroundings.

Day 11: Tea Country Experience
Discover the world of tea with a visit to a local tea plantation and factory, learning about the production process from leaf to cup. Continue to the Tea Museum for deeper insights into Munnar’s heritage. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure.

Day 12: Periyar and Cultural Evening
Drive to Periyar, a region famed for its wildlife and spice plantations. In the evening, enjoy dinner followed by a captivating Kalaripayattu performance, showcasing one of India’s oldest martial arts traditions.

Day 13: Nature and Spice Trails
Start the day with a guided nature walk in the Periyar Wildlife Reserve, an opportunity to spot local flora and fauna. Afterwards, enjoy free time before visiting a traditional spice plantation, where you’ll learn about the cultivation of aromatic spices.

Day 14: Kerala Backwaters Houseboat
Travel to Alleppey and board your traditional houseboat for an unforgettable cruise through Kerala’s famous backwaters. Drift past palm-lined canals and village life while enjoying freshly prepared meals on board. Relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings.

Day 15: Kochi and Local Flavours
Disembark and travel to Kochi, a historic port city influenced by diverse cultures. In the evening, take part in a cooking demonstration and enjoy dinner with a local family, experiencing authentic Kerala hospitality.

Day 16: Discover Kochi
Enjoy a guided tour of Kochi, visiting highlights such as Jew Town, the historic Synagogue, the iconic Chinese fishing nets, and the Dutch Palace. In the evening, witness a traditional Kathakali dance performance, followed by a special farewell dinner.

Day 17: Return Home
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
