We then move on to the Ashmolean Museum to explore its diverse collection of paintings, porcelain, silver and artefacts. This afternoon we will have a walking tour of Oxford’s most magnificent buildings, with entrance to a college where a guide will explain college life and customs. Today’s touring ends at Exeter College where a cream tea will be included. Tonight a special evening awaits us at Trinity College - we will enjoy a private dinner with wine in the Dining Hall.

Founded in 1379, New College was the first to be built around a main quadrangle and is notable for its beautiful cloisters and chapel. Return to the hotel for approximately 17.00.

Fabulous visit to Oxford. The guide, Alastair, was absolutely brilliant. Everything was exceptionally well organised, the coach always turned up at the right time, the afternoon tea at Balliol College was great, the meal at the hotel was great, and the dinner at Exeter College was superb! The hotel bedroom was definitely in need of a refurb, and quite dated, but both the Champagne reception and dinner were excellent.

3 days were excellent. A pity the hotel room in the garden annexe was not 4 star as stated in brochure. It was dark, tatty ,small and toiletries were poor or absent. Food was good and Alistair and his wife were delightful.

Very well worth doing. We were extremely impressed by virtually everything(apart from first night dinner at the hotel but this was more than balanced out by the dinner at Trinity - superb!

many thanks to Alistair for his erudition and conveying to us his love for Oxford and its colleges. Much enjoyed Kate's company at Trinity dinner. Well done Travel Editions.

We are recommending this trip to a friend. PS Flight/Train/Ferry rating does NOT apply since we drove to the hotel.

A thoroughly enjoyable and informative visit to Oxford. It is difficult to see how it would be possible to improve on Alistair as a guide. His local knowledge is exceptional. He was able to make adjustments to the itinerary as necessary, and made sure that everyone was looked after. The travel arrangements worked efficiently, including our personal changes to those advertised, and we had a good mixture of group activity and free time. Well done, and thank you.

A very good tour. Alistair looked after us very well, as did Jane (the Guide we had for part of the trip). We were surprised that the hotel didn't have a lift, especially as the restaurant was on the first floor.

Excellent holiday, Alastair Lack was superb. Will have another holiday with Travel Editions.

A thoroughly enjoyable tour with excellent and well-informed guides. The hotel was comfortable and well-appointed for the visit to Oxford. I cannot fault this tour and hope something similar will be forthcoming (but not Inspector Morse).
Review by Mrs Linda Cawsey who travelled 29-September-2016
Alastair generously shared his great love and knowledge of Oxford with us - nothing was too much trouble for him, answering all our questions and considerate for our comfort, wonderfully backed up by Kate. Trinity chapel, lit at night - remember for ever!

We would have ticked our "Overall impression" as excellent, but felt the accommodation was not as we would have expected of a four-star hotel. We encountered problems in our room, which were sorted, after much delay: and dinner on the first evening was rather disappointing.

Really interesting tour of Oxford Colleges and Alastair was the perfect host and a fund of knowledge concerning the universities and academic life. The highlight was the gala dinner at Trinity College which we all enjoyed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Oxford, it is a fascinating city.
Review by Mrs Pamela Preece who travelled 24-September-2015
Our only negative comment is that half of the first morning was spent in an individual tour of the Ashmolean museum. This was far to long in a place that can be visited by any individual at any time. We would have preferred an additional visit to another venue within the University itself.

The tour was a large group and this did take away from the overall feeling of the information getting across. The dinner in Trinity was good with a full hall so I think a difficult balance. A tour round the covered market was ok but not if you wanted to learn about the colleges.

The bedroom was very small for 2 people - it was difficult to move around the room. Also little space for luggage and difficult to hang up a suit in a very small cupboard that contains a tea tray.

Fab experience right on our doorstep!! Shall return to Oxford to visit in a different light! Thankyou! Perhaps group to large?
Review by Mr Ian Bennett who travelled 02-October-2014
No drawer space in rooms; cupboard doors broken. Alistair LAck was superb, but the blue guides on 2nd day were poor getting distracted into 1:1 conversations
Review by Mr David Griggs who travelled 02-October-2014
The Pitt Rivers Museum had been on the publicity material but we did not visit it. This is a very interesting museum and would have added to our enjoyment. The Saturday was a bit empty with too much spare time. It finished very early too - not the time mentioned in the itinerary,. Otherwise a very good weekend with good company. Thank you very much.

Alastair Lack and his wife Kate were excellent and made it a very interesting and enjoyable break.
