Day 1: Fly from London Gatwick to Istanbul. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Begin your exploration of Istanbul’s old city on foot. Enjoy a private visit to the beautifully restored 4th-century Şerefiye Cistern, accompanied by a live harp performance. Continue to the majestic Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. After lunch, visit the opulent Topkapi Palace Museum, once home to Ottoman sultans. Explore its treasury, holy relics, and the ornate Harem. End the day at the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, housed in the former palace of Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha, showcasing exquisite calligraphy, carpets, and ceramics.
Day 3: Start the day with a private marbling (Ebru) workshop, learning the ancient art of floating pigments on water. Visit the iconic Blue Mosque, famed for its six minarets and stunning Iznik tilework. In the afternoon, enjoy a private rooftop visit above the Grand Bazaar, before diving into the bazaar’s vibrant maze of textiles, antiques, and treasures.
Day 4: Depart late morning for a guided foodie walking tour through the historic Pera district. Sample Eastern Turkish specialties, seafood, pickles, Turkish wine, coffee, and more at beloved local spots like Sabirtasi, Tunc Balik, and Pano Wine Bar. Return to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 5: Explore the colourful, historic neighbourhoods of Fener and Balat, once home to Istanbul’s diverse communities. Visit the Church of St. Savior in Chora, renowned for its 13th-century mosaics. Conclude at the Spice Bazaar, a sensory feast of herbs, oils, and Turkish delight. Celebrate your journey with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6: Transfer to the airport for your return flight to London Gatwick.
