Carved by water and wind, the landscapes of Saxon Switzerland rise in sandstone towers and forested hillsides, with every step bringing new views of this dramatic borderland between Germany and the Czech Republic. Explore forest trails to the Bastei Bridge, ride the river to Dresden’s elegant waterfront, and wander the valley paths around Bad Schandau. From the ruins of Wehlen castle to the peaceful banks of the Elbe, each day brings a new way to experience this remarkable corner of Saxony. 

ITINERARY

Day 1: Fly from London Heathrow to Prague, then transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink and dinner at the hotel. 

Day 2: Today we take a scenic 6km walking tour through the heart of Saxon Switzerland. Starting in the charming riverside town of Wehlen, follow forested trails and rocky paths to the iconic Bastei Bridge, offering breath-taking views over the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Continue to the picturesque village of Rathen, nestled along the riverbank, where your walk concludes.

Day 3: Enjoy a relaxing boat trip from Bad Schandau along the Elbe River to the cultural gem of Dresden. Upon arrival, embark on a guided walking tour through the city’s historic centre. Highlights include the magnificent Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, and the beautifully reconstructed Frauenkirche. Discover Dresden’s rich baroque architecture and vibrant cultural scene.

Day 4: Take a nostalgic tram ride from Bad Schandau to the Lichtenhainer Waterfall. From here, enjoy a peaceful 5km walk through lush woodland trails to Ostrauer Mühle. This gentle hike offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and local charm, with opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy the serene landscape.

Day 5: Full day at leisure to relax or explore independently. Relax in Bad Schandau’s thermal baths, or enjoy a riverside walk.

Day 6: Our final day takes in a 10km circular walk. Begin at Schlossberg and follow scenic trails through the Sebnitztal Valley and the village of Altendorf, returning to Bad Schandau.

Day 7: Free time before transfer to Prague airport for return flight to London Heathrow.
